Yes, I travelled twice to KL and Malacca for two consecutive weekends! One with my friends, another with family. This shall be the summary of both trips. =)

Down south

We headed down south accompanied by the gloomy weather to the ~~partially~~ very ulu town, Tronoh. Drive, drive and drive but we still couldn't get a glimpse of Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP). We didn't expect that the journey would be sooOOoooo long. Finally, arrived there far behind schedule!

Greeted by a clear blue lake lies one of the most prestigious engineering campus in Malaysia. We were all amazed by the architecture of their buildings, even the toilet! Until we almost forgot that we were there to pick Eric. oops. We then headed to Ipoh for late Dim Sum, almost 12pm but the crowd is still there. Everyone in Ipoh don't need to work one ah? Weekday wor...

We then dropped Eric off at McDonalds to continue our journey down south. Fine la dowan follow us....

Surprisingly, this blog is still getting some random visitors daily. This means, Money..Money..and MONEY.

Struggling to get to my first RM50 withdrawal through Nuffnang since like..a year ago? Still haven't gave up though. =)

Too many random activities that happened this semester but I was just too lazy to write about it. Many weird things as well.

This semester also marks the end of my diploma course at INTI Penang. YAY?? Didn't expect to do this well in my final semester though. It was the best among the 7 suffering semesters here. Awards after awards coming for me.

The 13 survivors of 6 semesters in DEE programme decided to treat ourselves at TAO Autocity after our exams. Unfortunately, Wen Ping, Wei Wei, Seow Jie and Heng Hooi could not join in. May Xia and Hooi Jing as their substitutes. Previously, we visited the one at E-Gate. INTI as a place for holistic education becomes the taxi terminal for us. For a change, we make our way from INTI to mainland in an Unser with 9 average-sized people inside.

We arrived at the destination with the help of Garmin GPS way too early. We had to wait outside WITHOUT AIRCOND for 30 minutes. Being smart, we went to Guardian for 'window shopping' to kill time + get cool air.

It's finally 5.30 p.m.! We were the first group to enter but took us awhile to find a suitable place. They arranged a 8-seater table for 11 of us!! After everything settles down, we start ordering like 10-days-never-eat people. Make sure not to have too much sushi. A way they use to fill your stomach. Also the unagi (small piece grilled unagi with a big portion of rice). The recommended dishes by us are as follows:

1) MISO YAKI - Grilled butter fish which is really tasty!

2) MOTOYAKI SCALLOP - Tasty with the mayo. We ordered MANY MANY plates of this. Don't be like May Xia which only eats the scallop. =.=

3) FRIED SHISAMO (Pregnant Fish) - Make sure to include the word FRIED, not grilled. The grilled one is horrible, as in the fish's face. =)

4) CRAB MEAT WITH CHEESE - Hot creamy cheese with a crunchy skin.

5) TAKO YAKI - Not so bad..

6) FUKAHIRE CHAWAN MUSHI - Served hot with shark's fin on top.

7) TAIWAN MANTIS PRAWN - It's good to be eaten when waiting for other food.

A more familiar name, 'heh koh bak'. I saw a direct translation of this dish (Fried Prawn's Brother) at Four Seasons Restaurant.

8) GRILLED LAMB SHOULDER - Juicy pieces of lamb marinated to perfection!

9) SALMON PAPAYA - It's said to be their signature dish but we forgot to call it this time.

Make sure to call the correct waiter to clear your plates. One of the waiter didn't want to clear my plate because there is still a piece of sushi on it. =.= Another was more cincai and friendly.

Make an advance booking especially during weekends. We went on a weekday and it's already quite crowded. They have a time limit for each table, 3 hours. Most of us reached our limit even before the time limit. Overall, it's worth the money. The cozy environment beats the branch at E-Gate flat.

Recently, there is another competitor for the food court here in Queensbay Mall. It is far more presentable than the old food court. All the stalls are well-decorated. So, I decided to give it a try.

There is one that caught my attention, Curry Kapitan Chicken nonya style. It's a balanced diet set which cost RM7.90. Served with one piece of chicken, "bang kuang char", ikan bilis and a small bowl of tomyam soup. To me, it tasted good.

Another is the yee mee with egg, which was the cheapest on the list. Tasted alright too.

Got tempted after looking at the stall with so many add-ons available. Decided to try the cheapest on the list, ice kacang. A cold stuff on a hot day with curry will always taste good. Special indeed.

Thinking of where to eat for the weekend? Are the foodcourts all too boring with the same variety of food? This is where you should stop by then. Kuta Bali, located just behind Permata Complex. Its in Penang fyi, not in Bali, Indonesia.

It is a newly revived foodcourt with many similiar stalls from Sungai Pinang Foodcourt such as the famous East Coast Seafood. They have many different types of food, special indeed.

Too many stalls till I don't know what to order. Hope to have them all.

In the end, I ordered the Pork Leg Rice. Well, it tasted ok. Can improve better on serving more tender meat. The one at Island Glades is still way better.

My dad had the semi-Malacca style chicken rice ball. They are trying to follow the ones at Malacca, but having bigger balls. It is served with a plate of "white chicken". Enough taste on the rice and soysouce. Chicken meat was also not bad.

Seen any foodcourt in Penang selling whole roasted pork before? Here is where you can find it. It's chopped upon order. Well, a small plate of "siew bak" costs RM10. Tasted normal only. Worth the try but not worth the price.

There is also a stall selling all kinds of dessert, ranging from fruits to rice balls. I decided to try the cooling one, white fungus dessert. Perfect for such weather. Its good. Will order it the next time I visit this place!

Darwin's Theory of Evolution

Darwin's Theory of Evolution is the widely held notion that all life is related and has descended from a common ancestor: the birds and the bananas, the fishes and the flowers -- all related. Darwin's general theory presumes the development of life from non-life and stresses a purely naturalistic (undirected) "descent with modification". That is, complex creatures evolve from more simplistic ancestors naturally over time. In a nutshell, as random genetic mutations occur within an organism's genetic code, the beneficial mutations are preserved because they aid survival -- a process known as "natural selection." These beneficial mutations are passed on to the next generation. Over time, beneficial mutations accumulate and the result is an entirely different organism (not just a variation of the original, but an entirely different creature).

Joined Raymond, Eric, Chaw, Marc and Hui Mei for supper nearby my house. There is this "best burger in the world" stall somewhere near the post office here. It was claimed to be the best by someone who posted in The Star awhile ago and also Raymond. Tasted it many times already actually.

Even posted on Wikipedia!!!

Penang is also famous for its local style burger which is usually served by burger stalls by the roadside. This type of burger is quite different from a mainstream western burger. The roadside stall's burger is way cheaper and can be customized to satisfy one's taste. The most famous burger stall in Penang was Tari Cafe but now shunned due to being overpriced. The best burger that you could find in Penang currently is served by a burger stall beside the Pos Malaysia office in Jelutong.

The chef is a friendly guy but can get irritated when the stall is crowded. You can spot this stall easily opposite Bukit Dumbar as many people will crowd around the stall at night. This stall expanded in size this year! It's sponsored by some loyal customer I guess. From an ordinary stall to almost a hut, with tables behind. Is this legal????

Unlike many other burger stalls, this one tastes different. They have a few varieties of meat here, but not as many as the one at Sungai Ara, Burger Aman. Tried the beef this time round.

Burger Daging Special

It's really tender! The mixture of vegetables blend well with the burger and don't cover the taste of the meat. They even have potato slices in it. To me, it's really the best burger in the world. Try it and you will agree with me! Anyway, get the right person to fry your burger (the one on the photo above). =) They do change chef at times.

Wanted to try something new but it's out of stock. TILL FEBRUARY! Burger Labamba. Tried to find out how it taste like.. but didn't get a convincing answer from the person.

It's my first time visiting this restaurant after seeing the food review by many other bloggers. It looked too expensive till I'm afraid to enter. Today, I made my way here after finding nothing nice for lunch in Queensbay Mall. It is situated at the block of shoplots beside Queensbay Mall's side entrance, walking distance. Till I see the menu, I felt that it was decently priced. Tried many of the things based on the illustrations on the menu.

This place has been opened for some time already. The environment is still alright but I guess fewer people visits this shop already. The little plates to hold your soysauce is a little dusty.

Claypot chicken rice

The claypot pork rice is nicely presented with 2 different kinds of pork meat and tasted very nice. Goes well with the dark soysauce. =) Thumbs up.

QQ Fried Rice

To go with the name, cute cute fried rice is really cute. It's love shaped rice have nice aroma and tasted alright.

La Mien

I'm not a huge fan of La Mien so I shall not make any comment on this.

Mango Cheese

We ordered this mango cheese as our side dish. Was curious about the taste at first. It's crispy on the outside but taste neither mango or cheese on the inside. It was due to the recycled oil they use I think.

Xiao Long Bao

This is a must try in every Shanghainese restaurants. It tasted good with the appropriate amount of juicy soup in it. Handle this with care or you will drip off all the soup. To me, it's as good as those at Dragon-I, at a cheaper price. It's the brand right? Nike or Bata?

Yet to try their Pokey Mouse. Sounds good. =)

Mini-Christmas Get-Together
22nd December 2009

This is a late post on my recent mini Christmas celebration with friends. We decided to travel all the way to Tambun for seafood for this year's Christmas makan. Although most of us went there before, none of us remember the way exactly! GPS came handy leading us to Tambun city because we did not know the exact name of the restaurant. Left Penang island and fetched Marcus from the other end of the bridge.

It takes the Penangites an hour to get there. Somehow people are willing to travel a mile just for good food. Maybe it only applies to us Penangites? We reached the restaurant just on time for dinner. To our surprise, there were many parking lots available. Maybe because it was just another normal day, not a public holiday.

The food tasted good. But the pricing was kind of ridiculous when it comes to the fish. A siakap fish costing RM60. A codfish is even cheaper than this elsewhere. Maybe because we look young and naif?

This is supposedly the best along the stretch of seafood restaurants in Tambun. Everything except the fish was cheap and good comparatively with other restaurants.

All of us went for a stroll at Auto City since we were already that far from the island. Had some coffee and chit-chat at Old Town since the gang can hardly meet up with May Xia. Left for Penang at around 2 am.

I remember when I just entered the online world at the age of 12. Everyone was using ICQ that time. Then it switched to MSN, then Yahoo Messenger, then SMS (that's when it got cheaper), then Friendster, then Facebook, then GTalk, then soon everyone will be twitting. I can't follow the trend. I'm currently still stuck in Facebook, not having Twitter.

I used to receive New Year greetings, birthday wishes, and Christmas messages through SMS. Now, everyone is doing that via Facebook wall. =) Can see that from my birthday wishes this year.

Kidnapped and someone tried to touch me?

Anyway, had an unforgettable 20th birthday. Ate some spaghetti for lunch and got kidnapped by a group of friends at night.Was bathing halfway till I heard people calling my name. Opened the door for them but they kidnapped me using a scarf to close my eyes. Lead me all the way from my house to the car and took me somewhere. They kept giving signals on the phone, somewhere called HH.

Took some time to reach the destination and was lead to the table this time. They untied my scarf and I had a hard time knowing where was I. Finally know HH is actually Heritage Hotel. There is a Hainanese Delight Restaurant there which I've heard off but never stepped in. They serve very nice and special food there, also a friendly Cambodian maid which is fluent in Mandarin too. Cambodian oso can talk so good mandarin ah? Sia sui man...

I have no say of where to go because I'm not driving the car. It's already 12 but they did not drop me home. Instead, took me to MX's place. Thought they went there for another surprise but didn't expect the SURPRISE I got this time. Was blindfolded again and they led me somewhere. Finally, get to open my eyes and I don't know where was it. All I can see is blue.

Should have expected this. Where else other than swimming pool at Vistaria?!?!? They managed to empty my pocket before pushing me into the pool. One asking for my hp to play games, another for my camera to see the photos. Should have dragged one of them down.

A get-together with friends will be much better for me. Going to crowded places for such celebration is not my cup of tea. Well, brought some satay over and as usual, arrived late. Everyone was waiting for the satay! 100 sticks for 20 people enough right???

Selamat Datang ke Taman Negara Pulau Pinang

Undisturbed, unspoilt & tranquility is what best to describe Pantai Kerachut. Located at the north-east of Penang Island along the Muka Head cape, it is one of six beaches in Penang National Park.

This relatively unknown place is normally frequent by locals who went there to explore the lush greenery of Penang National Park & to camp at the designated campsite near the beach. Lately, more & more foreign tourist starts to give this fantastic place, a stop over.

Perhaps, it is the charming & alluring beauty of Pantai Kerachut that makes' it, the best gateway to recuperate from the hectic city life. Therefore, we decided to make our way there before the start of our new semester.

There are 2 ways to get to the beach. First, is by hiking & the second is by boat. Taking a boat will be faster but we decided to hike up.

Romantic place...

Although, you can enjoy a more relaxing boat cruise to this place, walking has become more favored nowadays. It's because the trails to Pantai Kerachut are much simpler and so much shorter compared to 4 years back. To me, the start was the only tiring part of this journey. It is much easier compared to 30 minutes up Bukit Jambul Hiking Trail. Various signboard are put up, leading you to Pantai Kerachut, Monkey Beach, Muka Head Lighthouse and some others beaches. The hike along the lush greenery and astounding beauty of Penang National Park took us 1.5 hours.

We were suppose to start hiking at 8am. However, due to unforseen reasons, we registered ourselves at the booth at 10am and start our journey soon after. Registration is FREE!

The bottom layer of sea water is normally warmer than the surface fresh water. Warm saline water below and fresh water on top. The lake is just a short walking distance from the beach.

Supposed to reach Queensbay at 11 but ended up reaching at around 11.30am. The moment we arrived at the carpark, we saw a car filled with people in red tshirts. That's when we start to worry. Planned to eat at 11 and watch Avatar at 12.05 pm. When the lift reaches ground floor, all we can see is gangs and gangs of red everywhere! The queue was so long in front of Kenny Rogers! Y they don't need to work one meh??? Bribe their boss free chicken?

Didn't expect such a huge crowd, some can't wait any longer and decided to have their lunch elsewhere. So the plan changed, leaving Wen Ping, Siew Poh, Yonn-Weih and Marcus waiting for their chicken while we went for movie first.

Avatar is a good movie. We can even see bunch of red people in the cinema. Not a coincidence right? Met Jason when we left the cinema. He knew that we were here for Kenny Rogers when he saw 5 out of 6 people in red walking together.

The movie ended at 3pm. Not lunch time anymore right? Right time for our free chicken this time. Not that many people anymore and we got our table right after. Buy 3 free 3.

Yesterday Google wasn’t in the business of selling mobile phones. Today, they are. The Nexus One smartphone has arrived and on sale, but not in Malaysia yet.

Nexus One: The Big Picture

The phone looks more like the iPhone than any other phone on the market. There is no physical keyboard like the Android-powered Motorola Droid, and the tradeoff is a much slimmer design. The phone is 11.5 mm deep, slightly thinner than the iPhone 3GS at 12.3 mm. It is also slightly lighter than the iPhone 130 grams v. 135 grams). The package comes with the phone, a removable battery, 4 GB Micro SD storage card (expandable to 32 GB), USB charger and microphone headset.

The Nexus one has four functional touch buttons at the bottom of the screen (back, menu, home, search) and a navigation trackball pointing device. It also has physical power and volume controls. But most of your interaction with the phone will be through the gorgeous 3.7 inch 480 x 800 OLED capacitive touchscreen. This is the best mobile phone display on the market today, blowing away the iPhone’s 480 x 320 display. The screen is bright and alive, and an absolute pleasure to use.

This phone is also powered by the Snapdragon 1 GHz core processor, which is more than able to handle the Nexus One’s 3D graphics, multiple applications running in the background and heavy browser use simultaneously. Unlike previous Android phones, there is no slowdown or lag when you push the phone’s performance, and less of a need to kill applications to keep the device humming.

On the downside: all this hardware bling is an energy hog. The screen will self adjust brightness and Google is smart about turning down the processor when it’s not being used. But I’ve found battery life to be woefully brief, even by iPhone standards. Officially the phone has up to 7 hours talk time, 250 hours standby, 5 hours of 3G Internet use, 7 hours of video playback and 20 hours of audio playback. Unofficially, I was able to kill the fully charged battery with 1.5 hours of continuous gameplay (Robo Defense) on the full-brightness screen. Be prepared to keep this phone near a charger at all times. You can easily view what’s using the battery, though (the screen is 71% of my current usage), and then adjust the hardware or software usage to maximize battery life.

Overall the Android is a superior mobile device, particularly when paired with Google Voice. Google is calling this the first of the Super Phones. And they may not be exaggerating all that much.

Scores of buyers of its first 'own brand' smartphone, the Nexus One, seem to have experienced 3G connection problems.

The much-hyped phone is sold directly to consumers through its website at google.com/phone. Google started selling it just four days ago to consumers in the United States, Britain, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Already, pockets of users have been posting their problems on the Google Mobile Help Forum.

Received a call from Chu Kuan after class. Suddenly tell me about a bomb in Penang pulak?!?!? He asked me to go over to I-Avenue to witness the issue there. At least I have someone as kaypo as me.

Class ended at 4 and I have some time to burn since it's just the beginning of semester. Drove down the other way of the hill to "pass by" I-Avenue. Round the area a few rounds and it tempted me to go down to have a look. Waa...police cars were busy entering the area, together with a tactical unit van. They secured quite a huge parameter around Maybank.

I believe it was a bomb threat and was confirmed later when they have the metal detector device and also a "sniff-sniff" dog. The searched the area for almost an hour and later took down the yellow tape.

Everything went back to normal so fast! After they took off the tape, we walked pass Maybank and can already see many people withdrawing at the ATM machine. =.=

TAIPING: Two cases of attempted arson were reported here involving a church and a school.

The locations affected on Sunday were the All Saints' Church at Jalan Taming Sari and SMK Convent along Jalan Convent.

The staircase leading to the church was slightly burned while the Molotov cocktail thrown into the school failed to explode.

Perak CPO Deputy Comm Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah said the bottle, however, shattered the window of the guard post located at the compound, which also houses a church.

He added police have beefed up security at places of worship in the state and urged the people to remain calm.

“We are investigating the matter and hope the public do not send out SMSes that can cause unnecessary tension and fear,” he added when contacted.

“This is the work of opportunists and not by extremist groups.”

Meanwhile, the All Saints' Church pastor Rev Joshua Ong told reporters that he saw the black patches when he was opening the premise at 7am in preparation for its service an hour later on Sunday.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today said that the government cannot stop people from gathering at mosques tomorrow to protest against a court decision which had allowed the Christian publication Herald to use to term "Allah".

Dear prime minister, remember this day - Jan 8, 2010. It is the date that 1Malaysia was cremated. It is the date from which we can no longer live in a country that we can describe as peaceful. It is a date when the people who were supposed to protect us have allowed such shameful acts to be carried out.

It was you, Mr PM, who said demonstrations on mosque premises would be allowed.

All religious premises should be a melting pot of tolerance, not places to spark off the flames of intolerance. Candlelight vigils have been banned, but demonstrations where racial insults are hurled are tolerated. Is this 1Malaysia or is this Malaysia for one group only?

Exactly, why did they allow gatherings at the mosque in the first place. Have seen videos on FRU shooing people away during a candlelight vigil, in the middle of Negaraku song. Why can they allow this gathering to take place then?!?!?! I'm embarassed to say I'm a Malaysian if I ever meet a foreigner.

They are afraid that the use of "Allah" might confuse the future generation and many will convert to Christianity. Is their faith so weak that one word will make a vast difference?

Let's see whether will all this threats being able to change the court rulling on the "Allah" issue?

If such incident ever happen in foreign countries, the person in-charge will likely choose to resign as he fail to take care of the situation. But, this won't happen in Malaysia.

Anyway, it is rather peaceful here in Penang after their religious prayers on Friday.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Metro Tabernacle Church in Desa Melawati here was damaged after a group of youths threw flammable materials into the ground floor of the church located in a shoplot.

No one was injured in the incident as the church was empty at that time.

It was believed the incident, which occurred at about 12.30am, happened after a group of youths on motorcycles rode up to the church, smashed the glass panels on the ground floor of the three-storey building and later threw some materials into the building that started a fire.

Two other churches were also burnt on the same day and other churches receive phone call threats.

Gerakan central committee member Dr Hsu Dar Ren described the arson as “a wanton attack on the freedom of practice of religions which we should all treasure and protect in this multiracial society of ours.”

The Umno/BN government and the Royal Malaysian Police should/must call for an immediate ban on any planned demonstrations. Even the compound of all the mosques should be out-of-bound to intending demonstrators. Mosques are for worshipers, not for those to assemble and create chaos. This is a very serious matter. He said this is a non-issue in Sarawak despite the name being used widely by all religions in the state for so many decades.

The Muslim Professionals Forum described this as “the cowardly and utterly senseless act of a group of misguided, chauvinistic bigots.”

“This act of arson, committed presumably in the name of Islam, desecrates the very religion it purports to protect. The Holy Quran unequivocally prohibits destroying the houses of worship of all religions, as warned in Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 40,” its board of directors said in a statement.

This ghost rider was on a car, not a superbike. While I was on my way home yesterday, I saw a huge cloud of smoke from far. Trail the smoke and realised it was at Jalan Masjid Negeri. Three cars were involved in an accident and one of them burst in flames. A Proton Persona. Hopefully its not 5577.

Caused a massive jam along the road, the bussiest street in Penang, and yet its during dinner time! Got a picture of it from far. Didn't dare to go near the scene as the fire was bigggg.

It's Marcus's birthday, so we decided to give him a rather different type of surprise. A surprise before the end of the day instead of 12 am the day before. That's Plan B.

Plan A was to play badminton with him and celebrate it in the afternoon. However, he had to go for work. That's how Plan B surfaces. He must be thinking no one will be celebrating his birthday this year because its already so late, almost 10 pm.

We had to go 'contact-searching' to find his mom's handphone number. After all the hassle, we finally got hold of the number. Few days later, Wen Ping told us he have his mum's number. =.=

Since Marcus is quite an observant person, we had to do everything perfectly behind his back. Called his mum when he is working to ask for his new unit number at Taman Jubilee.

Fetched the McD delivery boy and headed to Super Tanker to meet up with the rest. As usual, I'm late. =) If I'm not mistaken, Alan already gobbled up his 3rd plate of food when I arrived!

Went on car to find everywhere in the 1km x 1km range. Marcus can park and walk really far you know...

Although we can't find his car, we shall find the house with a pair of boots at the gate.

On the way to his house suddenly we saw Marcus at the ground floor. We had to 'commando crawl' to his house and hid at the staircase nearby.

I got spotted from far when trying to get an update on his location. He headed towards us and saw so many of us there, which surprised him... There goes our main surprise of giving him a blast at the doorstep...

We travelled all the way to Batu Maung for this surprise hoping that it will be a successful one. Since it's quite a long journey, we need to make sure that she's at home. So, Siew Poh told her that she will call her at night to ask her something and to tell her if she's going out or not.

When we arrived, she wasn't at home! Sumore this Marcus hiao hiao go message her to ask where is she. Luckily we came up with a good excuse saying that we wanted to ajak her for dinner but since she's out for dinner then some other time lah. Luckily that didn't spoil the plan.

So we parked out car far from sight and walked a distance to her house. Many dogs were barking at us but we were not afraid. The well-known Martial Arts Lee which once pengsan-kan a dog with his handphone was with us.

Asked her cousins which is her neighbour to open the door for us. Her cousin suddenly called her phone wanting to tell that her friends are here! Showed some hand signal and her cousin was smart to come up with an excuse 'Eh sai eong lu eh computer bo?' in a split of second. PHEW..

We waited at her home for quite some time. When she reached home, we hid by the corner to surprise her. The once silent night was filled with her scream which almost made us deaf when she entered the living room.

We bought her a bag and also a Baskin Robins quartz as her birthday cake. Marcus also gave a few 'things that will not die' to her. Went to the nearby mamak and keng kai till 2 am. =.=

It's some Singaporean kid's (Yik Sean) birthday on this day. So, Jason, Terrence and I went to get him a Yonex badminton racquet as the birthday present. It's a small birthday party and also some sort of reunion of our close friends back in PFS.

Went up to Sunrise Garden for a free car wash + wax service for the birthday boy. By the time we reach, Marcus already finish washing the car. =.=

Anyway, it was suppose to be a surprise. BUT...
1) The guard called Wen Ping informing about the incoming visitor
2) Wen Ping who usually sleeps late and also wakes up late, woke up early that morning.

Wasted the paparazzi's effort on monitoring Wen Ping's progress the past few days.

So, the birthday boy also helped out to wash the car. It's either the dust was too thick or acid rain happens at Sungai Ara area???

Even with wax, there is no way of removing the stain on the metallic black Saga. After hours of waxing, you can even slide a rough cloth all the way down from the rooftop. It looked like an almost-brand-new car!

2nd surprise for him on the night, this one didn't fail. Went over to his house and surprise him/caught him red handed? Jco was at his gate the moment he opens the door. So, we played Wii and went over to KFC for supper. What a special place for supper. Met with my college mates there and the girls turned the silent night upside down.

We went down all the way to Jusco AEON, Bukit Mertajam for another birthday surprise. All of us reached early and went around the mall for some walk...Its very nice compared to any of those malls in Penang Island. Played 2 rounds of air hockey game to kill time.

After all the walking, we went to Secret Recipe for the surprise. Jonathan received a message from his spy stating that the birthday girl is already here! Therefore, we lighted the FIRST set of 10 candles. No sign of her after the candle melted half.

WHAT TO DO!??!?! We decided to blow the candles off and put a new set. The SECOND set of candles almost melted all and then she finally arrived. PHEW!

So we had our meal there as the birthday girl gets a free meal and drink for every purchase of a whole cake. Jun Guan was SHY all the way... More to be discussed in another post.

Finally, my 2 months+ holidays will come to an end.

A short joke before the start of my new semester! Without realizing, I'm already in Semester 6!!! Next sem will be the final semester for my Diploma. Wow..see how time flies. Once upon a time, we used to look up on those semester 7 students. It's like, WOW! but now I'm already facing it, final year project next semester!

PDRM Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has acquired 25 units of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (with manual transmission) which will be used alongside the Proton Wajas and Iswaras as patrolcars.

The PDRM will be sending its Evo drivers for special training courses so that they will be able to make full use of the car’s performance so illegal racers had better think twice before trying to accelerate away when they see flashing blue lights behind them. The police also say that the cars may have other roles that require high-speed escorts.

Today, I see them on the road here in Penang. Wonder why is it here? Queuing up at the massive jam in front of Pesta Pulau Pinang. Nice to see them here though, instead of all those Waja patrolcars.

Char siu (also spelled cha siu, chashao, and char siew), otherwise known as barbecued meat (usually pork) in China or Chinese-flavored barbecued meat outside China, is a popular way to flavor and prepare pork in Cantonese cuisine.

Here on Chulia Street, located a famous coffee shop which sells only one thing, the "Char Siew fan". There are many chicken rice stalls on this street itself. I've gave my personal try on a few of stalls and find this the best among the rest.

This stall is special for its char siew and also "cheong". Their char siew is unalike the ones we usually had, meat with some reddish color on the outer layer. It is crispy and crunchy, while the sweet taste of the barbecued meat is still there, which makes it perfect. Probably one of the best char siew out there!

Many people will be queuing up beside the stall, hard to miss it. Not only char siew, they also serve duck, "cheong" and "siew bak".

Meat, meat and MEAT! They also serves vegetable and soup to balance up your meal. However, in a group of 4 we couldn't try it all. We ordered a plate of 3 combinations, char siew (not to miss), siew bak and white chicken. 30 minutes of wait and it finally came!!!

Review:

The char siew and siew bak is really good. 10/10

Chicken is not so good. I didn't quite like the chicken because its bloody and tough. Not their specialty maybe? 5/10

The rice is just normal. Plain rice, not the typical "chicken rice's rice". Ok I don't know what is it called..oily rice? 5/10

We had our lunch for only around RM6 per person.

All in all, the char siew is a must have!

Perak..here I come!

Three cars made their way to Kuala Gula for a one-day trip in Malaysia. As Malaysians, we should travel and explore around our own land more. Kuala Gula didn't came into existence to me until I was told by my mum recently. I guess many already forgotten their geography, colour sequence of Penang and Perak state flag? As above.

Weather condition along the way..

The weather was gloomy and drizzled all the way. It was quite a distance but took us only around 90 minutes to reach Kuala Gula using the North-South Expressway. My Nokia 5800's Garmin GPS did a great job bringing us there with minimal mistakes. Met up with my mum's friends along the way. 3 more cars! Perak is still covered with greenery everywhere! Even their longkang water is covered with green (fungus)!! Nice scenary along the way into the ulu bird santuary.

Upon arrival, the toilet was everyone's desperate need! Only two toilets available for 25 of us! After doing our businesses, we boarded the boat. RM10 per person. I was excited because its my boat ride after quite some time (couldn't remember when was the last time).

The scenery is amazing when we travelled out to the sea. Birds flying, greenery and infinite ocean view. The main purpose of this boat ride is to look at the variety of birds but I enjoyed the sea breeze more! Various birds can be spotted, and also a lot of monkeys. It's truly a place for relaxation and get-away from the stressful life. Travel there once and you will know.

The boat ride is worth our money, or at least my money (having the best view from the boat front is the best). It took us more than 1 hour around the mangroove swamps . Those sea-sick peeps should not worry much. The water is calm enough that even my grandma can tahan. The weather was perfect too, gloomy but didn't rain. Imagine setting off to the sea during a hot sunny evening.

Since it's a fishing village, the trip don't seem perfect without a meal filled with seafood! Went to a nearby seafood restaurant for our dinner. Waited super-duper-very long for our food to arrive although there were only few tables. I think they didn't expect a huge crowd to appear, only one cook. -.-

The food there was ok-ok la... Shall try the one at Tambun and make some comparison next time.

Went over to the tour-guide's house for some "pasar malam". House-pasar malam??? Running away from tax I guess that is why his house is so nice. Everything is sold there...from rojak sauce to jelly fish keropok and even fresh tiny fishes!

After all the buying, the tour-guide brought us for some kelip-kelip watch nearby. He actually wanted to charge us RM4 each earlier but he took us there for free now??? Must be satisfied with the profit from the sales at his home just now.

Kelip-kelip...WOAH...never seen them before in 19 years. After see-ing, nothing special actually. Just like a christmas tree lighted with yellow lights. Well, its an experience. At least I can tell people that I've seen kelip-kelip?

About Kuala Gula:

Kuala Gula is part of the 40,000ha Matang Forest Reserve, which consists of vast stretches of tidal mudflats and mangroves. The reserve has been acclaimed as the best managed mangrove forest in the world. Due to the vast expenses in this Matang belt, Kuala Gula is a tiny fishing village and a rare opening within this vast forest. Some parts of the coastal forest just a stone throw away from the settlement are still nesting areas for birds!

The northern winter brings birds both migratory and passage migrant to this region in the period of September and March. That adds interest to the existing local population. So far on record, 48 species of migratory birds had being recorded. Beside being nesting sites, the mudflats are also hunting grounds for other species of birds. The Milky Stork, an endangered species can now be found only in Kuala Gula , Malaysia. Speculations that there could be between 85 to 100 of these birds left in the world!

Wow! All we did was grumble because all the birds we saw was stork, eagle and kingfishers. The bird santuary eventually turned into monkey island as we saw many wild monkeys there! As in seriously WILD! Black and huge monkeys I have to say. I guess none of us know that the stork is an endangered species!!!

The glitter of bright decorations, the sound of joyous Christmas carols, the happy children, and the cheerful "Merry Christmas" greetings sometimes give the impression that everybody is glad that Jesus came to our planet. But that isn't true anymore today.

Most people were unaware of the significance of what had happened. Still today, multitudes honor Jesus and rejoice in their salvation. But many others hate Him. They grumble about the singing of Christmas carols in shopping malls, but some enjoy listening to those carols. Others are apathetic. They go along with the celebration of the season. They may join in singing Christmas carols, but they never ask themselves who Jesus is or why He came. They don't think of their need to believe on Him and receive Him as their Savior.

Jesus said that He came "to seek and save those who are lost" (Luke 19:10). Who are the lost? Everyone has sinned.

The true meaning of Christmas is that Jesus was born to die.

Because He was crucified and the rose from the dead, forgiveness of sin and assurance of heaven is now offered to all who believe. (John 1:12)

If you make room for Jesus in your heart,

Everyone wants something for Christmas, especially the little ones right?

There is an ongoing quote which goes..
"All I want for Christmas is..."

When we were little, we use to listen to a song with the lyrics "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth".

It has been all the while our own needs. Anyone ever wondered or came to your mind what Santa wants for Christmas?

It was featured on the radio just now, on my way back home.

Weird answers came up by the listeners. One caught my attention and I find that funny.

Caller to the radio station: Santa wants us to give him a break!!

Santa says, "All I want for Christmas is you guys to LEAVE ME ALONE this year!"

Imagine the population of 1,000,000,000,000 people asking for something on one particular day?!?!? Santa will need to do a lot of job with his raindeers and group of helpers!

Christmas Drama Presentation "Only You"
Venue: Dewan Seri Pinang Date: 17th & 18th December 2009

Penang First Assembly of God was proud to present you our Christmas Drama Presentation "Only You", held on the 17th and 18th of December 2009. Me and my family decided to watch it on Thursday because its a public holiday the next day. We assume that it will be packed like sardines, just like every other year.

Our church have been doing this type of presentation for many years already, starting from "The Matriarch" to "Second Chance" to "Only You". Most of the cast grew with the drama, since the first drama presentation. All of them practised hard months before the presentation to bring us the best! The message delivered from the drama and also Rev. Teo Kwee Kheng touched the hearts of many Penangites there.

Next, we headed for dinner+supper because the drama started at 7.30pm, which is dinner time.

Yummy Wan Tan Mee?

It's said to be the best Wan Tan Mee in Penang by many bloggers? So, we decided to give it a try. To us, it's just erm... ordinary? Nothing special about this authentic wan tan mee except that the chopsticsks used can show the establishment of this stall. It is said to operate for almost 70 years! There are many other stalls along-side with the wan tan mee too.

I feel that there are better ones out there. The one at So Young Cafe and also the coffee shop at the corner of Lorong Selamat (night).

The fruit juice stall there offers a wide variety of fruit juices too. From mango to water chestnuts.

It's a good place to go when it's late at night. Operates until around 1am.
To me, the wan tan mee is just 6/10.

Times Square

It's Penang Times Square, not Berjaya Times Square. Both the times square projects are massively huge and almost similar in colour, right?

Penang Times Square is a reflection of the project itself; a colorful, vibrant self-contained "urban Village". Times Square Penang is an urban redevelopment project consisting of 4 phases on a freehold land. The project will consist of a shopping mall with over 200 retail lots, a 50-storey hotel, twin office towers and also a 25-storey residential condominium. Phase 1, the plaza is slated to be completed in 2008 end, follow by Phase 2 in 2010, with the rest still in panning progress. The project is estimated to be worth RM558 million.

Recently stepped into this huge plaza to have a closer look at it. It has various "1st" in Penang which I've noticed. The notifications on the parking bays available on each storey of parking bay, (round and round until go merry-go-round) and also the escalator sensor like those in KL malls. Since its the first in Penang, I'm sure many thought the escalator is out of order. =)

The escalators are also faster than the normal ones. To suit the current lifestyle? Yik Sean said the escalators there in Singapore is twice the speed of those here. He was also afraid to use it when he first arrived there. How about the elderly???

Till now, it still looks empty inside, although the interior and exterior design is impressive. Most people go for Sunshine City though. However, it's not as convinient as Tesco or the other Sunshine Squares.

My aunt counted the number of rounds to reach the 2nd level of car park. Answer: 11

Venue: Penang International Sports Arena (PISA)

Recently, joined Starwalk with my college mates Marc, hm, jg, wp, sp. I've been joining this walk for the past 3 year, but with Joe Jin and gang. Guess they got lazy this year?

So, instead of staying over at Regency Heights, we stayed over at Vistaria, just 100m from Joe Jin's place.

The night before Starwalk, we went around Bayan Lepas area searching for a special burger stall I once saw on my friend's Facebook photo. Marcus went there once before but due to his curiosity over Easaw's stethoscope, he didn't pay attention all the way there. So, we had to rely on Khang Yang which led me through the phone. It's located quite deep inside.

We were surprised by the variety of meat they have, ranging from chicken to burung unta!! It's ostrich not camel alrite? They even have fish, prawn, etc. etc.

I ordered the King's Special Burger with chicken, beef and ostrich meat inside. 3 in 1 combo. It's as gigantic as it sounds! However, mine is written RM5.90 but I got charged Rm7.50. =.=

Something else also caught our attention. The drinks are sized kecil, besar, dinasour, and mama dinasour. Aren't they special?

By the time we reached home, it was already 2am. Filled our stomach hours before the walk!

This stall shall be rated "Most Special Burger Stall in Penang Island". Anyway, it's located near the factory area.

1) From Jalan Tengah traffic light go straight towards Hospital Pantai Mutiara.
2) With Hospital Pantai Mutiara and Giant Hypermarket on your right, turn right at the T-junction.
3) You will be heading towards the factory zone. When you see a mosque on your right, turn right.
4) At the first junction, turn left.
5) You will reach a food court. The burger stall is inside the food court (Aman Burger Stall).

Headed to PISA at 6.35am and walked towards SMK Raja Uda for the registration. No idea why did they do the registration there. It's quite a distance from PISA, the finishing line.

We finished our walk and queued up for Milo. The queue was CRAZYLY LONG! Everyone was crowding around the stall like thousand years never drink lidat.. There were no way out since everyone stuffed around the small booth. Everyone ended up coming back with an empty cup. A long queue for a small cup of Milo after the walk was worth it! =)

Somehow the Milo served by the Milo Van is always more delicious. Any idea why? It's more chilled and tastier! I had been a Milo Van fan since small. They used to stop by Botanical Gardens. I will surely get a cup each time I go for a walk there with my family.

After that, we went into the auditorium for the performance and lucky draw. The host of this event is the very talented girl-guy, Michelle. She is really a great host! Great job entertaining the crowd!

4 years of Starwalk didn't earn me any prize for the Lucky Draw. Not L-U-C-K-Y enough huh?

Among the prizes this year were:

FIVE motorcycles, a RM16,800 leather sofa set, a notebook computer, two netbook computers, air tickets, numerous mo-bile phones, cameras, MP3 players, global positioning system (GPS) units, home appliances and the list goes on.

All of us walked home empty-handed. AGAIN!

It's a phone!!!

Finally managed to get myself a new handphone, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

Of course, the user interface and design is below par compared to the Iphone. However, everything else is comparable and much cheaper than an Iphone!

Based on my own review as a user, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic uses a responsive One-Touch display while Iphone uses a Multi-Touch display. It is much easier to browse through an Iphone using your fingers. For me, I frequently uses my fingertip to select an icon on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. I find that much easier! Although it is fully a touchscreen phone, messaging still comes handy while driving. The touch alpha-numeric keypad is just the same as any other non-touch phones.

Garmin GPS system is a MUST for any phone! This GPS system is so accurate and it comes with the voice and 3-D navigation system too. Tested the gps several times to find nearby banks at the current location and it never failed me.

Although it comes with a 1 year free downloads from the Nokia store, I didn't bother to download any of it as I can just transfer the songs I want from the computer itself. To date, many applications are available for phones with Symbian S60. I have applications and games such as Windows Live Messenger, CoD Modern Warfare, Monopoly Deal,, Sudoku, Bejeweled Twist and many more! The only game I cant find was Bejeweled 2, which the Iphone has. I found out that PopCap did not create that game for Symbian S60 users.

The music quality is great too! After browsing through so many themes for this phone on the net, I still feel the default theme is the best! I've also tested out the 3.2 megapixels Carl Zeiss Camera Optics camera. The photo quality is good. Lets have a look at a few photos I've taken..

All in all, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic does more than what the price offers. Its a good deal. They are still improving on it as newer versions of firmware is released. To all Nokia 5800 XpressMusic users, make sure you have your firmware updated for faster processing speed since many of you complain that it's laggy. It doesn't feel laggy for me though, using firmware V31.

Anyway, there is an application (MyPhone) that can actually make the whole user interface of this phone exactly like an Iphone. =)

Haha...I did something I've never expected myself to do before.

However, for the sake of Iphone 3GS, I'm doing it! Can't be waiting for a reply from my dad's company for that phone anymore. I've been waiting for at least 3 months?!?

I'm really in need of a phone now. My faithful Nokia 6670 is officially dead. Can't even turn it on. AND...all my contacts were saved in the phone memory, which means all my contacts for the past 2-3 years are all GONE!!!

So, to those reading (i doubt any), do update me your new contact if you changed/gave your number within this 2 years.

I think i turned into a technology killer the past 2 weeks. Killed 4 handphones in 2 weeks!!! All the phones (Nokia 6610, Nokia N70 and 2 more handphones) that went through my hand just can't function properly.

AHH...I'm in need of a new phone!

I woke up one morning and just flipped through the newspaper for fun.

There was a broucher from KFC which interest me. There is a competition going on for the past 1 month and I don't know about it!!! I bet most of us have no idea about it too.

The prizes attracted me the most. An Apple MacBook Pro (Grand prize) and 8x Iphone 3GS (weekly prize) up for grab!

It is the simplest competition I've ever seen! I just have to snap as many photos of me with KFC morning breakfast. However, its approaching the final week of competition, which means, there will surely be many crazy people which had 1 month advantage over me.

I'm just aiming for the weekly prize (Iphone)...which ends tomorrow!!! Had been going to KFC every single morning this week to snap approximately 150 photos each day. Until today, I've snapped up to 700 photos. Going again tomorrow morning for the last shot!

No, it actually stands for Printed Circuit Board (PCB).

Lately, attended a PCB course conducted by the Engineering Society which was costly but cheaper compared to taking it outside. Quite satisfied with the outcome but no longer can solder as good as on a vero board... =.=

Yesterday (since its already 12) was the last day of my 2 weeks semester break.
So, today is the first day of my 4th semester.

Wonder how will this sem be..
As busy as the previous sems?
More relaxed?
More pressured?

Thankfully I passed all my subjects last sem. But it doesn't just stop right here. Many more sems to go!!

This sem I will be taking 5 subjects, 18 credit hours in total (which is the maximum a student can enrol with).

AND..I even have classes until 8pm!
AND AND..classes on Saturdays!!!

Instead of continuous exercise until it became a routine, we decided to go to Farlim's pasar malam. At least it will change Jun Guan's holiday schedule. Check out his blog to know more. =)

We went there not because of the shoes, bags or clothes. But because they sell many many weird food stuffs which we can't find anywhere outside. Marcus always tag along when we go for pasar malam trips because he loves weird things. xP

I'm officially a Competent Driving License (CDL) holder on th 14th of April, the same day as the arrival of my laptop! My car is clean right? I washed it by myself. =)

Anyway, the lastest movie I watched was "K-20, Legend of The Mask".
It's a Japanese movie but overall it was not bad.
It has been awhile since i entered a cinema. =)

Am exited because this will be my first laptop ever.
